Ground Retention
Retaining the ground may be a key part of any inground engineering programme. Obtaining appropriate geotechnical parameters is essential to help ensure appropriate temporary and permanent works are designed, constructed and verified during and throughout a project’s life cycle.
RDCL provides engineering for retaining systems including:
- Retaining Walls
- Bridge Abutments
- Landslide Remediation
Steep free-face slopes pose a significant hazard to work sites. Retaining walls (and in-ground walls) provide lateral support, reduce movement, prevent future erosion and can control water flow.
Many factors come into play with retaining walls and geotechnical engineers must understand the forces and materials inground and available for retention to model the most appropriate cost effective solutions. Over engineering using computer models, designs not suited to the site or contractor or designs outside the client’s budget occurs too often.
RDCL has experienced teams of engineers and geologists who understand ground modelling, forces and site conditions (loads) to provide partners solutions that work.
RDCL designs;
- Timber and steel
- Piling walls
- MSE walls
- Gravity block
- Grout and reinforced earth dam walls.
As well as design, we are there throughout the construction phase offering verification.
