Ollie Gibson
Principal Geophysicist
Ollie is a principal geophysicist with 23 years’ experience. He has conducted near surface and wireline geophysics surveys in over 25 different countries. Ollie has expertise in televiewer, surface wave, electrical resistivity and microgravity techniques. Ollie’s raison d’être is working within a team to integrate geophysical results into geological and geotechnical engineering solutions.
Self sufficiency.
One of the most interesting projects I have worked on was undertaking a televiewer and pressuremeter survey through a concrete dam and into the underlying schist in South Island. The survey was multifaceted and provided data on the condition of the concrete of the dam and the likely ground response of the underlying bedrock.
Boldness. Since I joined RDCL in 2012 boldness and a sense of adventure has underpinned everything we’ve done. This has meant taking risks that others might not and this has led to a can-do attitude and non-conservative approach.
RDCL is small. No one is going to hold your hand and you’re going to have to solve your own problems and take responsibility.
Outside of work I enjoy doing conservation work for the Ngā Uruora conservation group, tramping and kayaking along the Kāpiti coast.
