Concrete Scanning Services (GPR)

Why

Concrete scanning can prove incredibly useful for the identification of structural faults and voids within and below concrete. The same applies to the density and thickness of the concrete. Depending upon the nature of the structure, non-destructive scanning can provide greater certainty that safety and building regulations are being adhered to.

Scanning for rebar, electrical conduit, aging foundations and buried surface features are important risk minimisation measures. In many cases, the scanning produces on-site, real-time results meaning minimal disruption and costs.

What

GPR is a geophysical device that has established itself as the primary tool for precision concrete scanning. This non-destructive detection and imaging method helps RDCL professionals identify what lies within and under a concrete structure. RDCL primarily use concrete scanners to detect voids within and beneath concrete slabs.

GPR scanning technique is not only used for detecting voids but also detecting rebar, post tension cables, electrical conduit and for measuring object depths and concrete thickness.

How

GPR involves sending a high frequency radio wave from a receiver into a concrete structure, where the wave will “bounce” off any material it encounters. Those bounces are then displayed in a reading as parabolas, and a RDCL concrete scanning technician can interpret that data to report what was found and where exactly it is located.
