Geotechnical Foundation Design
Foundation designs are a critical part of any building. Our team of experienced geologists and engineers ensures RDCL delivers the right solution to a client’s foundation needs. Foundation designs are required to ensure structures can with-stand the forces our earth places on them, whether they are a residential house or a 30m high dam.
RDCL has design experience across shallow and deep foundations. Shallow foundations are most commonly applied to houses and RDCL ensures we meet local council requirements and building codes. These are often referred to 3604 foundations and TC1, TC2 and TC3 and involve removal of non-suitable materials and placement of engineering fill that meets compaction and bearing capacities suitable for the founding structures to be built.
RDCL deploys site teams with instrumentation including CPT rigs to assess ground conditions with the upper 10-15 metres of a proposed development. Soil sampling, bearing checks and deep foundation assessments (CPT or Drilling) allow reporting of foundation suitability.
